The Demon Barber of Fleet Street!!

Being that this blog- the blog, of all blogs, is one for entertainment and whatnot… I thought it be suitable that I share my feelings about this bloody musical: SWEENEY TODD. I know, I know it’s a musical…and I am not usually one for musicals, but jesus. I am yet again blown away by the plot and character adaptation that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have created. Yes, I am like 6 months late on this one…but I just got my Netflix subscription and is one of the first 3 dvd’s to arrive in my mailbox… so from now on, you will probably be reading a lot of movie-related entries from me. Anyway, back to the movie… where the fuck did Sacha Baron Cohen come from? His character was great, although he was short lived. Now, the cast could just not be any better. I’ve had a serious love for Helena Bonham Carter since Fight Club, she is just so creepy, it’s phenomenal. Her voice and just her overall look is so perfect. Now, Johnny Depp, sure you can say he is overrated or just not as great as he’s cracked up to be… but how can anyone deny that his acting is top notch? His deep, dark connection with the characters that he becomes is unbelievable… he holds nothing back… he vocals are wonderful, his hair, his make-up… flawless. He is the perfect bloody barber killer in this broadway musical adaptation. Now I’m sure the broadway musical blows…just because I’m not much into that stuff… but I can surely say that I am completely surprised that I am enjoying this film as much as I am right now. I think I will make a top 2008 movie list this year, as well as a cd list… even though this film  was released in December of 07. Anyway, the plot is interesting, and even though I’m not much for listening to an entire movie of singing, I thought the songs were done well also. Bonham Carter and Depp are a great team. I will probably add more detail later. But did anyone else see this, or enjoy this?
