#35 – Enchanted

Now everyone go ahead and laugh, but I’m not the only one who thought this film was good. It scored an 8.0 on IMDB; and has an amazingly high fresh rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. In fact, the argument should probably be made that this film is TOO low on my list.

I’ll be the first to admit that this film pleasantly surprised me. Enchanted is probably the most original Disney film since Emperor’s New Groove (Llama Face). Amy Adams is simply adorable, while James Marden’s (go watch Sugar and Spice) performance is vastly underrated. The whole concept of Disney animated characters coming to life is executed very well. Even the songs (albeit I don’t agree with the THREE Oscar nominations for Best song… wtf?!) fit perfectly and are preformed as ‘over the top’, as they are in other Disney animated films.

Overall, I was very entertained with this flick. Enchanted is a breath a fresh air from Disney (that wasn’t made by Pixar). It’s definitely not another Love Bug, Hunchback, or Cars; AND it’s much better than Cool World. I’ve even heard rumblings of a sequel. Although I’m not a huge sequel fan, this film’s originality might deserve another chance to shine. We’ll see…
